A week after Farmington police officers shot a 25-year-old man during a traffic delay, police have released body camera video showing what led to the fatal shooting.
Body camera footage of all five officers is shown, as well as dashcam footage of the first responding officer, who initially made a routine traffic stop at Chase Allan.

Police said there was a “placard” on the rear of the vehicle instead of a license plate, which is why Allen was pulled over in the first place.
In the video, the officer and Allen can be heard greeting each other before the officer explained the delay was due to the vehicle not being registered.
“I don’t need to register and I don’t answer questions,” Allen can be heard saying in the video.
At this time, the police officer called the backup police officer to assist in the response and asked Allen to identify himself.
“So this is the dealership and I’m going to stop you because your vehicle isn’t registered and I want your ID,” the officer said to Allen. “You are currently in custody and cannot leave.”
In response, Allen told the officer he “doesn’t answer questions.”
“If you want my ID, you’re going to be arrested and you’re going to be a surety and a trustee,” Allen said. “That means you will be liable for any debt you try to acquire.”

The exchange between the officer and Allen continued as the officer repeatedly asked for identification, which Allen refused.
“Are you trying to identify yourself, or do you want to go the other way,” the officer replied. Allen then surrendered an American passport.
At this point in the video, more officers arrive and order Allen to get out of the car.
“Get out of the car for me,” the co-pilot ordered.
“No,” Allen replied.
“Sir, please get out of the car immediately.” The police officer ordered again.
“No, I don’t have to,” Allen can be heard saying in the video.
